Single Women Homesteaders: This presentation will focus on the lives of single women homesteaders in the West and will compare the laws and
experiences of women homesteaders in the United States and Canada. This will be an
informal presentation explaining how women were able to claim a homestead and how
this experience opened up opportunities for women in the West. Several specific women
who were single women homesteaders will be highlighted throughout the presentation,
including McKinney’s great-grandmother.
Join us for an informative Lunch & Learn! The dining room opens at 11:30 a.m., giving you plenty of time to grab lunch and enjoy your meal before the presentation.
You're also welcome to bring your lunch with you. The learning session starts at 12:30 p.m. Take a break from your day to learn something new, gain practical knowledge, and
